CHALLENGE
Design a new logo that better aligns with product functionality
OVERVIEW
To eliminate significant end-user confusion regarding its application, Grip-Rite renamed its ShingleLayment-HT product line to High Temp Underlayment. Following the name change, I developed a new logo featuring a dual-meaning concept:
-
The Arrow: Positioned over the "H" in High, it represents a house's roof line where the product is installed.
-
The Function: It signifies the product's primary purpose as a secondary water barrier in high-temperature applications beneath roofing materials like metal or slate.
Because the High Temp Underlayment logo is always paired with the primary Grip-Rite logo, it's set at an angle for optimal visual balance. Additionally, as a deliberate nod to the original branding, the design retains the same font as the old logo.
